💵 Tip me for my work!! 💵

My tip jar is now open!

As of writing this, you’ll now have the option to donate to my Ko-fi page. And don’t worry – even if you don’t, this newsletter will always be free.

Why did I do this instead of a paywall?

One

I love writing so much that I just want people to see what I put down each week, no matter their income level. If I was doing some hard-hitting journalism it would make sense to charge for subscriptions, but my main goal when I started this Substack was to practice my writing skills, make my reader's day a little better, and make some friends along the way.

Paywalling my Substack would have gone against both of those core values and shifted the vibes.

Substack is the place to be right now, or at least one of the places to be.

But if you’ve been around on the internet long enough, you know social media platforms have a limited shelf life the moment they’re put out in the world. From Myspace collapsing to Facebook being on life support, there is only so much time you have to play FarmVille and talk to Myspace Tom.

By keeping my donations on a separate platform, I’ll be able to write for you for many years to come – whether that’s on Substack or somewhere else.

Where will the money go?

Every week, I visit my favorite coffee shop to get myself a treat and write my weekly substack. I ALMOST ALWAYS get the same drink – an Aztec Mocha – which costs $6.75. If you’ve never had one, it’s a fun twist on your typical mocha. There’s a cinnamon stick put in the drink along with some whipped cream and chili powder on top! It’s really good.

Look at how tasty that drink is 👀

It's the best way I've found to stay consistent with writing and, while it doesn't cost much each week, it definitely adds up! By treating me to some treats, you'll ensure I have some fresh-baked writing for you once a week!

Will anything change?

No… for now.

As I mentioned earlier, this newsletter will always be free.

That means forever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and… you get my point. So don’t worry about that changing.

What might change, though, is the amount of time I have to focus on this newsletter. It really depends on how many people tip me, but if I get enough donations it might mean more than just being able to buy treats. It could mean I can take more time away from my day job to provide even more quality writing.

That means more fiction.

More music recs.

More essays.

More… anything really; the possibilities are endless!

It all depends on what I get, but I hope to be able to grow this newsletter.

No matter how big or small the amount, any and all tips will be appreciated! As a consolation of my gratitude, anyone who contributes any amount will have their name displayed at the bottom of my newsletter for all of 2025 (Unless you want to be anonymous, which is fine too!)

A Thank You

I just want to say thank you for reading my work and sticking along this far. It’s been fun finding my voice on here and I hope you’ll continue to read what I put out and maybe even share it with some of your friends.

I hope you’ll consider tipping me for my work, but your readership will always be appreciated no matter what. I know it’s not always easy to fork over money, especially when times are tough and everything these days is mired in subscription-based models.

Whether you drop a tip in the jar or not, I’m just glad to have you here.
