The weather was pretty nice this weekend, so Jenn and I took advantage of it by getting away from our computers and enjoying the good ol’ fresh air downtown. Along the way, I threw one of my zines in a little free library.
We got some nice breakfast from the coffee shop downtown, perused the record store, and bought a couple books from WordHaven.
I’ve been really digging Philip K. Dick, so I was excited to see a collection of some of his short stories. He just has a way with sci-fi that’s quite interesting – and prophetic – to me.
Tomb Sweeping was a new one recommended to me by Jenn. The first story is about someone getting laid off from a job, which is super relatable so I think I’ll dig it.
The other two were used books that I’m not sure if I’ll like, but hey they were only a buck or two so no big deal.
We headed back to the car and, on our way, I saw the zine I put in the free library only hours ago was already gone! So, I put another one in and then we went home to rest for a bit.
Later, we went for a 4.5-mile hike at a nearby park and enjoyed all that nature had to offer us.
It was overall the best day of the weekend, and even better because I hardly touched my phone! It’s gotten easier to do that now that winter is no longer giving me brain freeze.
I’m still looking for some motivation to write some more short stories, but I’m trying to be gentle with myself considering I just put out a zine. I’m trying to keep these rundowns a little shorter so I have more time to write my stories, but I do hope you enjoy these little snippets into my life and hope you’ve been well.
Until next time,
Ryry

I listened to the audiobook for Tomb Sweeping a few months ago. I think I liked the first two short stories the best. I placed a hold for Minority Report and Foreverland based on this post, so thank you! I’ve read a bit of Philip K. Dick’s book “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” (Which was turned into the movie Blade Runner). I liked some chapters and other chapters bored me, but definitely willing to give him a second chance, especially since I really enjoyed the movie Minority Report.
