The weather was doing all sorts of weird things this week and Jenn and I could barely keep up. The first couple days, it was very foggy and humid. My photos don’t quite do it justice, but I hope you get the idea!
This kept up until Thursday. By then, the skies were looking just lovely in the morning, but it was a nasty trick played by Mother Nature.
Why? Because we ended up having a severe thunderstorm warning AND a tornado watch that night – a very uncommon thing for a small city close to the lake. It made for a weird and eerily quiet evening at work, though I did get my to use the library’s PA system to let everyone know we were under a tornado watch (Hello, fifteen seconds of fame!)
We were rocked pretty hard by the storms, but thankfully there was no real damage or tornadoes. I even got lucky enough to drive home during one of the calm parts of the rain!
As if that much rain wasn’t enough, Friday decided to dump a little bit more in the evening. The clouds were looking similar to butt cheeks when we went out for some Mexican food, but I’m not quite sure if they were bona fide mammatus clouds or something else.
I felt like the weather reflected my mood this week; I was overall happy, but there were some things bubbling under. We’ve started hiking more and waking up earlier and, while I’m loving the new routine, it’s causing a little bit of whiplash for me as my body still is used to the days of wintertime lounging.
Just like the clouds outside, I think the weather is clearing for something nicer and sunnier… like a fun run we just did!
Fun Run #1 = Done ✅
We ran at the local 5k for our city’s baseball team this weekend. It’s a run we’ve been doing for a couple years, and I love doing it every time. The course is a little hilly but a fun challenge and the vibes are immaculate. Everyone is there to have a good time and cheer on the upcoming baseball season.
Despite all the recent bad weather, the skies held up long enough for us to enjoy a cool, rain-free run.
Afterward, we got drizzled on a little as the awards ceremony went on. While neither of us won anything from the ceremony, we did win a gift card to a local cafe during the raffle portion! It’s a place we’ve never been to, but I guess that will give us a good reason to check it out.
We had a day full of chores after we got home, so we were pretty pooped by the end of the night. I fell asleep pretty easily that night, satisfied with the knowledge that I’d put in a solid day of hard work.

It's been raining here all week too. I hate hot weather so I'm actually fine with it lol
